Samcheonpo, South Korea – October 11, 2025 – K-Wind Solution (K-Wind Solution Co., Ltd.), a specialized operator of offshore wind Crew Transfer Vessels (CTVs), proudly announced the successful launch of its inaugural domestically built CTV, signaling a major leap forward in the localization and growth of South Korea’s offshore wind support sector. The launch reaffirms K-Wind Solution’s commitment to building a sustainable, localized ecosystem for offshore wind development.

The launch ceremony was held at a prominent domestic shipyard in Samcheonpo, South Gyeongsang Province, convening an esteemed group of shipowners, investors, shipyard representatives, maritime authorities, and equipment makers.

KWS: A Pioneer in South Korea’s CTV Market

Headquartered in Mokpo, Jeollanam-do—a strategic offshore wind hub—K-Wind Solution is the first company in South Korea to offer comprehensive end-to-end solutions for offshore wind support vessels, encompassing planning, construction, chartering, operation, and crew management. Following this inaugural launch, K-Wind Solution plans to deploy a second CTV in Q4 2026 and a third in Q3 2027. All three 27-meter class vessels are purpose-built to safely transport O&M personnel and cargo to offshore wind turbines within Korean waters.

First CTV Begins Service in October 2025

The first vessel is scheduled to commence operations in October 2025 following delivery and shipboard familiarization training for crew. K-Wind Solution has obtained both a Coastal Cargo Transportation Business License and a Ship Management Business License from the Mokpo Regional Office of Oceans and Fisheries, authorizing full-scale operations. The CTV will primarily serve the Southwestern offshore wind farm, with planned expansion to other offshore wind projects across Korea, working closely with wind developers and O&M providers.

Domestic Innovation Meets Green Maritime Standards

Built entirely with domestic technology and workforce, the CTV embodies South Korea’s capabilities in marine engineering and sustainability. The vessel integrates state-of-the-art eco-friendly design standards, aligning with national goals to localize offshore wind infrastructure and reduce reliance on foreign vessels.

Vision for the Future: A CTV-Based Offshore Wind Operations Hub

K-Wind Solution is committed to further expanding its fleet through both new builds and strategic acquisitions, backed by domestic and international investors. Plans are underway to launch a dedicated crew training academy and introduce a bespoke Integrated Safety Management (ISM) system, tailored to offshore operations—setting new standards in safety and professionalism across the sector.
